Integration Prompts

Thoughtful journaling prompts for before, immediately after, and in the weeks following a psychedelic experience.

Integration Prompts

Journaling is one of the most powerful integration tools available. These prompts are organized by timing: before a journey, immediately after, and in the weeks that follow. Use what resonates. Skip what doesn’t. There are no wrong answers.

Before the Journey

Intentions

  • What draws me to this experience right now?
  • If I could receive one gift from this journey — understanding, release, clarity, connection — what would I ask for?
  • What would it look like to hold this intention loosely, without demanding?

Fears and Resistance

  • What am I afraid might come up?
  • If my worst fear manifests during the experience, what would I want to remember?
  • What parts of myself have I been avoiding that this experience might bring me face-to-face with?

Context

  • What is my current mental and emotional baseline?
  • What is happening in my life right now that might influence this experience?
  • Who in my life knows I’m doing this, and how do I feel about that?

The Seeking

  • What question in my life feels most alive right now?
  • What would I do differently if I knew I couldn’t fail?
  • What truth am I not admitting to myself?

Immediately After

While the experience is still fresh — ideally the same day or the next morning:

What Happened

  • What was the arc of the experience? (Onset, peak, moments of intensity, moments of peace)
  • What images, symbols, or metaphors stood out?
  • Were there moments of difficulty? How did I navigate them?

What Came Up

  • What emotions arose most strongly?
  • Did any memories, people, or situations appear?
  • Was there a moment of insight or clarity? What was it?

Body Sensations

  • Where in my body did I feel the experience most strongly?
  • Did any tension release, or any new tension appear?
  • What does my body need right now?

The Unresolved

  • What felt incomplete or confusing?
  • Is there anything I want to sit with further before trying to interpret it?

The Weeks After

Return to these at days 3, 7, 14, and 30.

Meaning-Making

  • What from the experience keeps returning to my mind?
  • Has my understanding of any moment shifted with time and distance?
  • What would I tell a trusted friend about this experience?

Change

  • What is this experience asking me to change?
  • What one small action could I take this week that aligns with what I learned?
  • What would I need to let go of to make space for this change?

Integration in Daily Life

  • Where am I resisting what came up?
  • Where am I already living differently?
  • What support do I need to keep this alive?

The Long View

  • If I look back on this experience one year from now, what do I hope I’ll have done with it?
  • What would it mean to honor this experience with my life, not just my words?
